Vietnam, Sri Lanka target US$1 billion in two-way trade

VOV.VN - Vietnam and Sri Lanka have pledged to work together more efficiently  aiming to lift bilateral trade to US$1 billion.

The trade target was agreed during talks in Hanoi on August 1 between Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy and Sri Lankan State Minister of Foreign Affairs Vasantha Senanayake who is on an official visit to Vietnam from July 31-August 1.

Both sides also agreed to continue cooperation and mutual support at regional and international forums. 

State Minister Senanayake said that Sri Lanka will consider supporting Vietnam’s candidacy for a seat at the UN Security Council (2020-2021) and the position of UNESCO Director-General (2017-2021).  

Both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of shared concern, adding that Vietnam and Sri Lanka will continue coordinating and supporting each other at regional and international forums.

Earlier on July 31, State Minister Vasantha Senanayake visited two foreign enterprises with investment projects in the northern city of Hai Phong.
