Vietnam sets import tariff quotas for salt and poultry eggs in 2025

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced import tariff quotas for salt and poultry eggs for 2025, aiming to meet domestic production and consumption needs.

The quotas are outlined in Circular No. 01/TT-BCT, issued on January 15, 2025, which will take effect from March 2 to December 31, 2025.

Under the quota, 72,104 dozen of poultry eggs, including chicken, duck and other unfertilised commercial eggs, are allocated for import.

For salt, including edible salt, denatured salt, pure sodium chloride (with or without additives such as anti-caking or flow-enhancing agents), and seawater, the import quota for 2025 is set at 92,400 tonnes.

Salt import quotas are allocated to businesses directly using salt as raw materials for producing pharmaceuticals, medical products, and chemicals. Meanwhile, poultry egg import quotas are assigned to traders with import needs.

The allocation of quotas for salt used in pharmaceuticals and medical products will begin once the circular takes effect. For salt used in chemical production and poultry eggs, the allocation timeline will be determined in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
