Vietnam seeks cooperation opportunities with Indian state of Uttarakhand

VOV.VN - The Trade Office of Vietnam in India has partaken in a programme in Uttarakhand state to hold trade promotion activities there and explore further investment and business co-operation chances in Dehradun city.

The Uttarakhand programme will primarily focus on discussing opportunities for business and investment partnerships in agriculture, food processing, pharmaceutical production, and forestry.

At the event, Vietnamese Trade Counsellor in India Bui Trung Thuong gave local officials brief information regarding the country’s economic development over recent years, especially in terms of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, along with economic and trade ties between the two countries.

He therefore proposed some orientations for further co-operation between Vietnam and India, including Uttarakhand state.

At a meeting held with Chief Minister of Uttarakhand state Pushkar Singh Dhami, Thuong introduced Vietnamese coffee products and suggested that enterprises from Uttarakhand move to strengthen relations with Vietnam. There should be a specific focus on cultivating and processing medicinal plants, along with supplying materials for pharmaceutical production in the Vietnamese market.

In response, Chief Minister Dhami highlighted his state’s natural advantages for developing agriculture and forestry, noting that the local administration is in the process of stepping up organic agriculture, animal farming, dairy processing, food processing, pharmaceutical production, and auto manufacturing.

He also expressed his desire for further co-operation with Vietnam in developing coffee cultivation in Uttarakhand.
