Vietnam, RoK step up co-operation to promote digital transformation

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications co-operated with the Korean Ministry of Science and Information Technology (MSIT) to arrange the Vietnam - Korea Digital Transformation Forum as part of Vietnam International Digital Week (VIDW2022) which got underway from October 11 to October 14.

Vice Minister Park Yun Kyu shared that digital technology is key in the era of the digital revolution, being an important foundation for all forms of innovation.

Digitisation is a key factor in innovation across all fields from politics, economics, to social affairs and culture.

Minister Kyu said that on September 28, the Korean Government announced the Korea Digitalization Strategy.

This is part of a national master plan aimed at realising basic human values digitally. With a vision of becoming a digital power, the Republic of Korea (RoK) has set out strong plans aimed at ensuring the world's best digital capabilities in key digital industries such as data, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, software, and network infrastructure.

The RoK is therefore aiming to comprehensively innovate its national economy by spreading digital convergence in multiple fields from agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. This will be done to service industries such as culture, logistics, biotechnology, education, and manufacturing industries.

Furthermore, the RoK will strive to create a digital society for all citizens, in which people's safety is guaranteed by digital technology in a move towards a digital government that not only improves the convenience of people's lives, but also realises welfare policies through digital democracy.

Deputy Minister Kyu added that the RoK intends to create a culture of digital innovation, encouraging people's freedom to challenge their own creativity. Simultaneously, it will prepare for a new digital socio-economic order, with plans to promulgate five basic laws of the digital economy.

Le Van Tuan, director of the Radio Frequency Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications, said he hopes that RoK businesses with enough capacity and experience in digital transformation will inspire the wider business community. The Vietnamese industry is in the process of boosting digital transformation and sharing best practices.

Currently, digital transformation represents one of the main breakthrough strategic solutions of the Vietnamese Government, with the Vietnamese Prime Minister being chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation.

The heads of the 63 Vietnamese provinces and cities are also heads of the local digital transformation committee, thereby showing the interest of Vietnamese leaders in digital transformation.

One of the most important contents of Vietnamese digital transformation is to put people and businesses' activities on digital platforms and to encourage firms to use digital technology, especially technologies related to digital technology involving artificial intelligence, as well as digital platforms to improve productivity and operational efficiency.

Digital technology and digital transformation can serve to help boost administrative reform, making it easier and more convenient for people to gain access to public services, with this being a basic goal of Vietnamese digital transformation.

At the event, both local and Korean information technology enterprises shared digital transformation solutions in manufacturing industries.

Viettel VHT Company used the occasion to introduce digital transformation solutions for manufacturing industries, while LG Group presented a range of digital transformation steps as part of its electronic production activities.

Moreover, the forum also held discussions on semiconductor materials, artificial intelligence technology, and digital furniture.
