Vietnam Mobile Day 2018 on way

Along with the development of mobile infrastructure, businesses have invested more in business on the new platform, from upgrading mobile-friendly websites to developing apps.

A survey by the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) in early 2017 found that 19% of businesses have developed websites that are compatible with the mobile platform.

According to a report by Zenith Media, in 2012 smartphones and tablets accounted for only 40% of internet traffic, but over the next five years the figure rose to 75% or higher.

The breakthrough in user growth creates a solid foundation for the technology industry in general and the mobile industry in particular.

EBI reported last year that about 33% of respondents to its survey spent about 20-50% of their total e-commerce investment on the construction and operation of mobile websites and apps.

This is an impressive figure that demonstrates that technology development is an important step in the success of any business that wants to integrate into Industry 4.0.

For that reason, Vietnam Mobile Day (VMD) 2018, the largest and most prestigious event in technology and especially mobile technology, with the mission of engaging the tech-loving community, will return in June.

The eighth VMD will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 8 and Hanoi on June 15, organized by TopDev and under the patronage of VECOM, and be a promising destination to gather together enterprises in Vietnam and regionally and present opportunities to exchange and connect the information technology community in the most effective way.

“Recent breakthroughs in mobile apps in e-commerce in Vietnam have created a new wave of stimulation for the industry,” said Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, Vice President of VECOM. “In the field of online retail, thousands of e-commerce websites showed a 35% increase in revenue growth for 2017.”

“Domestic online card transactions increased about 50% in 2017 compared to 2016 and the value of transactions increased by 75%,” Mr. Dung added. “In the field of online marketing, some affiliated marketing companies saw growth in 2017 of 100 to 200%.”

Moreover, during Industry 4.0, mobile technology is not only limited to smart apps, e-commerce and game apps, but also extends into various other fields.

In the financial sector, up to 1.9 billion people around the world are able to trade on their mobile devices. Advertising budgets in Vietnam for mobile platforms has reached US$78.7 million, equal to 36.6% of the total online advertising spend.

Capturing the prominent mobile technology trend, VMD 2018 will discuss 100 of the hottest topics and is expected to attract more than 10,000 participants and over 400 tech startups.
