Vietnam Expo 2023 officially gets underway in Hanoi

VOV.VN - More than 500 businesses from 16 countries and territories are showcasing their products at the 32nd Vietnam International Trade Fair (Vietnam Expo) which kicked off in Hanoi on April 5.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai noted that over the past 31 years, Vietnam Expo has become one of the most important and largest-scale trade promotion activities in Vietnam.

The expo has brought practical opportunities for Vietnamese businesses and helped improve their capacity to participate in the global value chain, said Hai.

This year has seen the expo continue to maintain business-to-business (B2B) trade exchange activities via the online platform, a move which has attracted the participation of a great number of both local and foreign enterprises, he added.

Notably, the pavilion of Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion of Hanoi City (HPA) themed "Invest in Hanoi" introduces the capital’s potential and investment attraction policies, and at the same time connects directly with typical enterprises in the fields of supporting industries, electrical equipment, and food.

Meanwhile, the exhibition area by the Investment and Trade Promotion of Ho Chi Minh City (ITPC) aims to provide support for inter-regional trade promotion between local firms and the business community in the north. Participating enterprises are therefore selected to display their equipment, machinery in the supporting industries, and handicrafts for export.

This year, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the Improving Private Sector Competitiveness Project (IPSC), has pledged to support 20 small Vietnamese enterprises in displaying their products and services at the expo.

2023 is the 24th consecutive year that the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) has selected Vietnam Expo as a special event to showcase products, aiming to promote trade in the light industry, smart and consumer electronics, as well as both the food and beauty sectors.

Furthermore, Chinese enterprises are showcasing some of the leading products of the machinery and equipment industry across 50 booths, while the Indonesian national pavilion is focused on business opportunities between the two countries, along with introducing Indonesia’s landscapes, culture, and people to mark 10 years of the joint Vietnam - Indonesia strategic partnership.

The expo is scheduled to run through to April 8.
