Vietnam attends German trade fair for organic food

VOV.VN - Biofach 2023, the world's leading trade fair for organic food, officially opened on February 14 in Nuremberg in Bavaria in southern Germany, attracting over 2,500 exhibitors from nearly 100 countries, including 10 businesses from Vietnam.

Popular Vietnamese businesses participating in the event include Visimex, VietHaus, COCOVIE, Hagimex, Sokfarm, Hanuti, Tam Duong Tea, Vinasamex, CPT Corp, and DACE.

Tran Ngoc Thanh, vice president of the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association (VOAA), revealed  that Vietnam's organic agricultural production has developed significantly, especially after three years of implementing the Organic Agriculture Scheme.

The country’s organic agricultural product export turnover has reached over US$335 million per year and has made a strong presence in over 180 countries and territories globally, of which Europe remains the major importer of Vietnamese organic products, Thanh said.

Thanh added that this is marks the sixth consecutive time that VOAA has dispatched Vietnamese businesses to attend the Biofach Fair in order to create the optimal conditions possible for local firms to seek opportunities, partners, and gain entry to the world organic food market.

Do Viet Ha, a representative of the Vietnam Trade Office in Germany, provided participating businesses with relevant information of the German market, the second largest organic market in the world.

According to the Trade Office, European consumers, especially Germans, remain highly interested in healthy products with the trend of consuming organic products increasing remarkably.

Vietnamese products on display at this year's Biofach Fair are quite diverse, including peppers, cashew nuts, cinnamon anise, coffee, coconut rice, organic noodle soup, garlic chilies, soy sauce, coconut oil, and organic tea. Most notably, 100% natural products from coconut nectar of Sok Farm company have captured the attention of many customers.

Moreover, a number of trade exchanges have taken place effectively, with the participation of many businesses and potential partners from Germany, Peru, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Spain, with these opening up further opportunities for Vietnamese organic agricultural products.

Experts pointed out that with the trend of consumption of organic products and incentives from the EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), local businesses are being urged to make the most of the opportunities, promptly grasp the consumption trends, and gain greater insights into regulations on food safety of foreign importers.
