Vietnam attends Bolaven coffee, tea and agro-festival 2023 in Laos
VOV.VN - The Bolaven coffee, tea and agro-festival 2023 has been getting underway in Champasak province of Laos from February 2 to February 4 amid the presence of businesses from Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand.
The event provided an opportunity for coffee cooperatives and businesses in the southern region of Laos to promote organic coffee products to international friends, while simultaneously helping Vietnamese coffee firms to gain greater insights into the Laotian market.
Vietnamese firms from the localities of Da Nang, Dak Lak, and Binh Phuoc showcased their coffee products, especially organic coffee at three out of 50 booths at the event.
Tran Quoc Danh, general director of Danh An Phat Co., Ltd., said that he had been to Laos many times in order to promote the company's coffee products and to seek further ways in which to gain entry into the Laotian coffee market.
He added that Vietnamese enterprises should therefore pay close attention to Laotian consumer tastes, which cater to organic products, especially instant coffee.
Bounheuang Carol Litdang, president of the Lao Coffee Cooperative Association, pointed out that the development of organic coffee has not only met the growing demand for high quality coffee, but also helped the association export coffee at high prices.
Sharing this perspective, Menou Saliththirath of Thateng district in Xekong province stated that her business produces organic coffee due to its quality, noting that Laotian consumers are increasingly interested in health issues, as well as the sustainable environment.
Currently, Laotian coffee has been exported to more than 21 countries. Last year, the total export value of coffee beans of the Lao Coffee Cooperative Association reached over US$67 million.
