Vietnam and RoK promote trade cooperation

VOV.VN - Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have become each other’s leading partners in various fields, in which economic, trade and investment cooperation serves as both the pillar and the main driving force for growing bilateral cooperation.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien was speaking while receiving Oh Yong Ju, ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam in Hanoi on June 13.

Dien highly appreciated the Oh’s efforts in carrying out effective and practical activities to bring the Vietnam – RoK relations on par with the level of comprehensive strategic partnership at present.

He suggested that Ambassador Oh and the RoK Embassy support connections between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and relevant RoK ministries and agencies in an attempt to enhance bilateral trade, industry and energy cooperation towards raising two-way trade turnover to US$100 billion in the near future.

Ambassador Oh for her part said the RoK side wishes to sign a number of documents with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, including an MoU on the establishment of the Vietnam – RoK centre for essential minerals supply, an MoU on the establishment of Korea Plus in Vietnam and Vietnam Plus in the RoK, and a joint statement on the establishment of an electronic C/O data exchange system.

She also said despite the global economic fluctuations, RoK businesses remain keen to invest in and expand their production bases in Vietnam, especially in core technology areas such as energy batteries or semiconductors.

Shw vowed to strive to cultivate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the RoK and Vietnam to develop more substantively in the coming time.
