Vietnam and China share experience in securities market development

VOV.VN - Vietnam and China shared experience in developing their securities markets during a meeting in Beijing on November 25 between Wu Qing, chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and Vu Thi Chan Phuong, chairwoman of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC).

During the meeting, Phuong, who was on a working visit to China, emphasized that the SSC highly values its cooperative relationship with the CSRC.

Since 2005, she said the two sides have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral cooperation in the securities sector to enhance market information exchange, facilitate delegations, and provide technical support. Following the MoU, both sides have organized numerous working visits, training programs, and experience-sharing sessions aimed at developing and improving the legal framework and market oversight for the securities sector.

She briefed her host on the development of Vietnam’s stock market in recent times, noting the recent participation of numerous Chinese investors in the market. She affirmed that that the SSC is committed to creating favourable conditions for foreign investors, including those from China, to engage in Vietnam’s stock market.

Wu, for his part, praised the bilateral cooperation between the two agencies, as well as their active participation in the activities of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

“We highly value the development of Vietnam’s stock market, which has great potential for growth in the future,” he said.

Wu also pointed out the structural and regulatory similarities between the securities regulatory bodies of the two countries, particularly in market supervision frameworks. He proposed that both agencies hold more frequent exchanges to share experiences in managing and overseeing the stock market.

Phuong thanked the CSRC leader for the sharing, and said to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, both sides should review and detail the implementation of their bilateral cooperation agreement. She also expressed a desire for the CSRC to provide guidance on digital transformation applications in securities market oversight.

On the same day, the Vietnamese delegation held discussions with experts from various departments of the CSRC and representatives from the China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation (CSDC).
