Vietnam Airlines to receive three new Airbus A320 Neo aircraft this year
VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced plans to receive three new Airbus A320 Neo planes, with the first delivery scheduled for early July to meet passengers’ demand during the peak summer season.
The aircraft which accommodates 182 seats is equipped with a new generation engine, which saves more than 16% of fuel consumption, reduces noise by 75% and cuts about 50% of harmful emissions compared to previous generation engines.
“Acquiring additional aircraft is one of the important solutions to help Vietnam Airlines meet the travel needs of passengers during the peak summer season. This is especially significant in the context of aircraft shortages due to the manufacturer’s engine recall globally,” said a representative of Vietnam Airlines.
The new planes are expected to provide a total of 40,000 seats during the summer peak period and around 299,000 seats late 2024.
Vietnam Airlines plans to operate Airbus A320neo planes on domestic routes such as Hanoi-Da Lat, Hanoi-Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City-Thanh Hoa, and Ho Chi Minh City-Chu Lai.
The carrier is expected to receive more Boeing 787-10s, one of the largest aircraft of the Boeing 787, in the future.
