Vietnam Airlines launches first commercial flight to Long Thanh
VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines’ first commercial passenger flight landed at Long Thanh Airport on the morning of December 19, marking a key milestone in bringing Vietnam’s most modern gateway airport into operation.
Flight VN1, operated with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, finalized its Hanoi – Long Thanh journey in two hours, carrying Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh and nearly 100 inaugural passengers. Earlier, Vietnam Airlines had successfully landed a wide-body aircraft at the airport on December 15, demonstrating the airport’s high readiness and effective coordination among relevant units and ground service teams.
Vietnam Airlines became the first airline to bring passengers to Long Thanh, officially launching civil aviation operations at the new airport.
Vietnam Airlines General Director Le Hong Ha said,“The first commercial flight at Long Thanh marks a new operational chapter for Vietnam Airlines and represents an important milestone in modernizing Vietnam’s aviation infrastructure. We are proud to accompany the opening of this gateway airport, thus improving service quality and strengthening the nation’s connectivity.”
Alongside the inaugural flight, Vietnam Airlines introduced new routes including Ho Chi Minh City-Copenhagen and Hanoi- Cebu, resumed services at Vinh Airport, launched in-flight Internet, and opened Bong Sen lounges and Check-in lounges at Vinh and Cam Ranh airports.
Vietnam Airlines expects that the modernization and upgrades of airports across the country will enhance passenger experience and further reinforce its position as the national carrier on the regional and global aviation map.
