VietJet orders 40 more Trent 7000 engines for A330neo fleet
VOV.VN - Local budget airline VietJet has signed a new deal with Rolls-Royce to purchase 40 additional Trent 7000 engines to power its fleet of 20 Airbus A330neo wide-body aircraft.

This order follows the contract signed at the 2024 Singapore Airshow which raises the total number of Trent 7000 engines that VietJet has ordered to 80. The order was announced by Airbus last May.
In addition, VietJet continues to choose Rolls-Royce’s TotalCare comprehensive engine maintenance service as it helps to optimise operating efficiency and extend the engine's operating cycle.
“Today’s commitment for an additional 40 Trent 7000 engines demonstrates the airline’s confidence in the Trent 7000 and A330neo combination,” said Rob Watson, President of Rolls-Royce Civil Aviation.
“The incredible versatility of this aircraft and engine combination allows customers to serve different markets and maximise the resilience of their fleet,” he added.
“Our GBP1billion investment in time on wing across the Trent family of engines has delivered an enhancement package for the Trent 7000 that has, in some case, tripled time on wing. VietJet Air is a key partner for Rolls-Royce in the Asia-Pacific region, and we are proud to support their mission of connecting Vietnam with the world,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Dinh Viet Phuong, CEO of VietJet Air, emphasised that Rolls-Royce is a trusted partner in the airline’s long-term strategy to develop a next-generation widebody fleet.
“Our decision to expand the Trent 7000 order for 40 new engines within a year reflects our strong commitment to international network growth, with a focus on long-haul markets across Europe, North Asia, and North America,” Phuong said.
“With the Trent 7000 and TotalCare at the core of our widebody operations, we are well-positioned to deliver a world-class travel experience with enhanced quality, cost efficiency and support the sustainability of the aviation industry,” he added.
VietJet is currently operating more than 130 new-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft and has ordered an additional 400 aircraft. This fleet serves VietJet's plan to expand its flight network across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as establishing new long-haul routes to Europe and the US in the near future.
