Vietjet CEO Phuong Thao among top 50 world’s most powerful women

VOV.VN -CEO of Vietnamese budget airline VietJet Air, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, has been named among ‘World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’ list in 2018 by Forbes magazine.

The Vietnamese female representative, who is also deputy chairwoman of HDBank, ranked 44th place in the list, up 11 notches compared to the previous year, with her total assets worth US$2.6 billion.

She got the idea of launching a low-cost airline while she was a trader. She predicted that demand for air travel in Vietnam would increase. She is Vietnam’s first self-made woman billionaire.

In 2017, she was also named on the list of top 50 most powerful women in Vietnam and Asia by Forbes.

This is the 15th annual list. Forbes announces its list of the most powerful women who are working in the fields of business, finance, communications, politics, social activities, charity/NGOs, and technology.

This year, the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list celebrates the icons, innovators and instigators, who are using their voice to change power structures and create a lasting impact.
