VIATT 2026 gathers 450 textile firms to strengthen trade ties and expand orders
VOV.VN - The Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies 2026 (VIATT 2026) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on February 26, with 450 textile and garment enterprises participating to strengthen trade ties and expand orders.
Running from February 26-28 across 18,000 sq.m, about 20% larger than in 2025, the event, jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Germany’s Messe Frankfurt Group, features nearly 1,000 booths from more than 450 companies representing 21 countries and territories. The exhibition spans the entire supply chain, from yarns, fabrics and accessories to home textiles, technical textiles, machinery and technologies, enabling enterprises to connect directly with international suppliers and buyers.
Bui Quang Hung, Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said textiles and garments remain a key export sector, with apparel maintaining positive growth. Amid global market fluctuations and rising standards, B2B activities at VIATT allow enterprises to negotiate directly, sign contracts and broaden their network of partners.
According to the ministry, Vietnam’s textile and garment exports in 2025 were estimated at around US$46 billion, up roughly 5% year-on-year, with apparel accounting for over US$38 billion. The performance demonstrates efforts to diversify markets, make effective use of free trade agreements and promote green, sustainable production.
A highlight of VIATT 2026 is the participation of seven national and territorial pavilions. Germany joins for the first time in the European zone, alongside pavilions from India, Japan, Türkiye and Taiwan (China). The diverse presence enables Vietnamese enterprises to access quality materials, explore new technologies and negotiate contracts directly with overseas buyers.
Alongside product displays, the three-day event hosts forums, specialized seminars and B2B matchmaking sessions focusing on trade uncertainties in 2026, the application of AI in design and production, ESG practices and international standards. An innovation and digital solutions zone shows AI-based sample simulation, automation systems and advanced fabric inspection technologies to help enterprises optimize production and shorten cycles.
As the sector shifts from contract manufacturing toward higher value-added production, VIATT 2026 is expected to expand partnership networks and generate new contracts and orders in the second quarter and the second half of 2026, while supporting Vietnamese firms in solidifying their position in the global value chain.
