Vendors encouraged to use “Pracharat Money Bag” app

The Government has continued to support low-income earners with various projects, such as the state welfare card scheme. Not only does the scheme benefit low-income earners, it also helps small vendors to earn more revenue.

The government is now promoting a mobile application called the "Pracharat Money Bag" and it has set a target of 100,000 registered stores.

The Director-General of the Comptroller’s General Department, Suttirat Rattanachot said about 23,700 stores have registered with the "Pracharat Money Bag" app, and a total of 34,221 Blue Flag Pracharat shops are using electronic data capture (EDC) devices to read the state welfare cards.

Ms. Suttirat said there are now more than 57,900 stores and shops that support the state welfare cardholders who mostly purchase consumer goods, such as soap, toothpaste, and detergent.

The Ministry of Finance is providing more channels for the state welfare cardholders, so they can make purchases more conveniently at small grocery stores.

At the same time, vendors would also earn more revenue. Since this week, the Comptroller’s General Department, under the Ministry of Finance, has been working with the Ministry of Commerce and Krung Thai Bank (KTB) to encourage vendors and markets nationwide to register with the "Pracharat Money Bag" app and use it as a one stop service provider.

Personnel from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Commerce are visiting each province to promote the app.

Vendors are required to have mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, in order to register with the "Pracharat Money Bag" app, which supports the Android 4.4 version and the iOS 9.0 version.

For vendors who do not own mobile devices, TOT Public Company Limited will provide them with a smartphone and a SIM card, used exclusively for the "Pracharat Money Bag" app.
