US$4.1 bln trade surplus for agricultural sector since start of 2025
VOV.VN - Vietnam earned US$8.08 billion from exporting agricultural products and spent US$3.89 billion on imports from Jan. 1 to mid-April, 2025, resulting in a trade surplus of US$4.19 billion, up 11.4% year on year, according to Vietnam Customs.

Agricultural products with export turnover of over US$1 billion each included coffee (US$3.3 billion, up 46.7%), and cashew nuts (US$1.03 billion, up 5%).
In contrast, rice exports decreased by 14.9% to US$1.47 billion, while fruit and vegetable exports dropped by 10.4% to US$1.38 billion.
With regard to export prices, coffee recorded the highest average export price growth, increasing by 69% to US$5,685 per tonne, while pepper and cashew nuts rose by 64% and 27% to US$6,882 and US$6,833 per tonne, respectively.
In terms of imports, Vietnam spent US$1.33 billion on importing cashew nuts during this period, up 29.3%, making it the only billion-dollar import item in the group.
The import of fruit and vegetables reached US$697 million, up 23% year on year, while corn and wheat imports fell by 16.1% and 3.7% to US$659 million and US$533.1 million, respectively.
Throughout the reviewed period Vietnam spent US$397.8 million on purchasing milk and dairy products from the world, up 32%.
The average import price of cashew nuts and corn saw an upswing of 33.3% and 1.4% to US$1,657 and US$257.7 per tonne, respectively.
