The United States has issued regulations easing restrictions on American companies seeking to do business in Cuba and opening up travel in the latest move to normalize relations with the Communist country.
The US has issued a series of regulations aimed at easing restrictions on US companies seeking to do business in Cuba.
Among the changes are rules aimed at easing the movement of authorized travelers by licensing transportation providers.
Telecommunications and Internet-based services will also be affected -- allowing authorized Americans to provide and market their services in Cuba. The rules will allow US companies to establish offices, stores and warehouses on the island.
A more open relationship, says the US Treasury, has the potential to create economic opportunities for both Americans and Cubans. A major shift toward normal relations after 54 years of tension between the two countries.
