Turkey imposes anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese polyester yarn

VOV.VN - The Turkey General Directorate for Imports under the Ministry of Economy has announced to impose temporary anti-dumping duties of 36.28% on Polyester Partially Oriented Yarn (POY) coded HS: 5402.46 imported from Vietnam.

According to the Vietnam Competition Authority, this is not a good news for Vietnamese polyester yarn product as Turkey is one of its key importers.

Similar products from China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Thailand are also subjected to the anti-dumping duties.

In late February, Turkey initiated an anti-dumping investigation into polyester POY yarn, following a complaint by Korteks Mensucatve Sanayi Anonim Şirketi. The period under investigation is between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2016.

The Turkish Ministry of Economy said it decided to levy temporary anti-dumping duties on the product as its imported volume increased significantly in the period.

The duties will be effective from the date of announcement till the final decision on the investigation is declared.

In recent times, Turkey has constantly imposed safeguard duties on Vietnamese yarn. Earlier in May 2015, it initiated an anti-dumping duties on yarn coded HS 5402.33 imported from Vietnam and Thailand after receiving the suit filed by Korteks Mensucat Sanayive Tic. A.S. It levied anti-dumping duties of 34,81%-72,56% on the Vietnamese product in November 2016.
