Top 5 largest pepper export markets of Vietnam in January
VOV.VN - In January, Vietnam exported pepper to 30 key markets, with the United States, Germany, India, the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Korea being the top five in terms of export value, according to data from the General Department of Customs.

Throughout the reviewed period, Vietnam shipped 12,958 tons of pepper, valued at US$87 million. Compared to the same period last year, the export volume dropped by 25.9%, and the export value saw a rise of 25.1%.
The average pepper export price soared by 68% to reach US$6,755 per tonne, up 68% against the same period from last year.
The US remained Vietnam’s largest pepper export market with turnover reaching US$21.7 million, up 8.4% on-year; followed by Germany with US$9.36 million, up 112%; India with US$6.98 million, up 23.7%; the UK with US$4.24 million, up 112%; and the Republic of Korea with US$3.43 million, up 6.5%.
The country's pepper export turnover to the five major markets totaled US$45.7 million, accounting for 52% of the country’s overall pepper export value.
Furthermore, Vietnam also exported pepper to the Netherlands with a turnover of US$3.25 million, down 16.6%; Pakistan with US$2.6 million, up 82%; Spain with US$2.08 million, up 84%; Russia with US$1.6 million, up 59%; and Japan with US$1.49 million, up 22%.
Within the ASEAN bloc, Vietnam exported pepper to four member markets, including the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Specifically, the country’s pepper exports to the Philippines in January fetched US$2.58 million, down 3.3% on-year; trailed by Thailand with US$2.19 million; Malaysia with US$1.17 million and Singapore with US$0.2 million.
