Thailand to develop online retail systems with Vietnam

VOV.VN - Vietnam and Thailand should increase cooperation in distributing goods on online retail systems, suggested Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Commerce of Thailand Jurin Laksanawisith.

“I have asked the Vietnamese side to support Thailand in expanding the distribution channel of Thai goods to consumers through online retail systems in Vietnam such as Shopee, Lazada, Tiki or Sendo,” Laksanawisith told reporters after attending the fourth Vietnam-Thailand Joint Trade Committee in Bangkok on April 20.

“On the Thai side, we will also support and create conditions for Vietnamese goods to be distributed on online retail systems in Thailand,” he assured.

According to the Thai Deputy Prime Minister, such an approach will help fully tap into the cooperation potential between the two countries toward a set goal of achieving bilateral trade turnover of US$25 billion by 2025.

He also suggested that the two countries strengthen coordination in organizing trade promotion activities in each country, adding Thailand is currently promoting the organization of the event ‘Mini Thailand Week’ in Can Tho from May 20 to 22 and Quang Ninh from June 16 to 19.

Meanwhile, the Government of Thailand and Central Retail Group of Thailand are coordinating with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam to organize ‘Vietnamese Goods Week in Thailand’ on the occasion of a coming APEC Summit, scheduled to be held in Thailand in November 2022.
