Terminal T2 of Phu Bai International Airport inaugurated
VOV.VN - An inauguration ceremony was held in Thua Thien Hue province on June 17 to put the Terminal 2 of Phu Bai international airport into official use.
Addressing the event, Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) emphasized that the inauguration of the new and modern T2 passenger terminal is anticipated to turn Phu Bai International Airport into a new aviation hub, connecting Thua Thien Hue with other provinces and international airports of the region and the world.
He stressed that the future task of the ACV is to closely work alongside with the aviation industry and the Thua Thien Hue province to develop markets and expand air routes, especially international routes.
In the face of the growing travel demand, work on the VND2,300 billion T2 of Phu Bai International Airport kicked off on December 29, 2019.
The new terminal is expected to serve 5 million passengers per year with domestic flights making up about 80% of its capacity, and international flights accounting for about 20%.
The T2 is the first terminal where the ACV has applied digital transformation and platforms to improve passengers’ experience including self-check-in kiosks, automatic broadcasting system using AI, and systems of citizen identification card with electronic chip, and biometric facial recognition.
