Tan Cang-Cai Mep International Terminal receives first vessel from Premier Alliance

Tan Cang-Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) in Phu My township of the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has welcomed the first vessel from EC3 of the Premier Alliance, announced Truong Tan Loc, chairman of the Members' Council of TCIT on February 18.

The vessel, ONE EAGLE, has a capacity of 14,000 TEUs. EC3 is one of the four primary routes of the Premier Alliance, alongside PS3, FP2, and MS2, connecting Vietnam with North American and European markets.

The Premier Alliance was formed through the strategic restructuring of the former THE Alliance, consisting of three major shipping lines, namely ONE (Ocean Network Express), HMM, and Yang Ming. It officially began operations in February this year, marking a significant milestone in the global container shipping industry.

Loc noted that the decision of Premier Alliance’s shipping lines to continue choosing TCIT as their home port at Cai Mep - Thị Vai after restructuring is a strategic move that reinforces TCIT’s role in achieving the alliance’s objectives in this new phase.

Shotaro Ikeda, General Director of ONE Vietnam, stated that in the future, ONE and its partners are committed to strengthening cooperation with TCIT to provide the best shipping services, promote trade between Vietnam and key global markets, and create greater values for customers.

Currently, TCIT handles 10 international service routes a week, connecting Vietnam with key markets, including North America, Europe, and intra-Asia.

In the coming period, in addition to its role as a deep-water container port operator and international transshipment hub, TCIT plans to invest in and expand its post-port logistics business, such as depots and inland container depots (ICDs) in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area, aiming to provide comprehensive logistics solutions and value-added services to best meet the needs of shipping lines and import-export businesses.
