Sunny Group pours US$150 million into Nghe An project
VOV.VN - The central province of Nghe An on September 20 handed over an investment license to China’s Sunny Group to produce camera modules, mobile phone cameras, car cameras and other electronic devices.
Sunny Automotive Optech Vina will be built on an area of 43 hectares of land at WHA Industrial Zone 1 with a total investment of US$150 million. The plant is scheduled to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2025 and it is expected to create approximately 20,000 jobs by the time.
Addressing the handover ceremony, Nguyen Duc Trung, head of the Nghe An provincial administration, noted that Sunny-invested project helped local FDI surpass the US$1 billion mark, hitting US$1.23 billion in the past nine months, making Nghe An rank 8th among leading FDI attractors in Vietnam.
So far Nghe An has attracted 130 FDI projects with total investment capitalization of nearly US$3.85 billion.
In March 2023, Sunny’s President Ye Liaoning revealed the group has planned to invest up to US$2.5 billion in the northern province of Thai Nguyen, which is expected to generate US$5 billion in annual revenue and create 15,000 jobs.
Founded in 1984, Sunny produces integrated optical components for various devices such as telephones, computers, robots, medical equipment and industrial production machines.
Sunny has invested US$130 million in four projects in Vietnam, namely Sunny Opotech, Sunny Automotive, Sunny Infrared and Sunny Opotec. These projects produce infrared lenses for cars, mobile phone camera modules and surveillance cameras in industrial parks in northern localities.
