State bank again cancels May 3 gold auction
VOV.VN - The State Bank of Vietnam decided to cancel a gold bullion auction due to take place on May 3 morning after only a bidder applied for registration.
The central bank originally planned to sell 16,800 taels of SJC gold bars at an initial price of VND82.9 million per tael. However, only one bidder registered to take part in the auction.
This is the third time the central bank has scrapped the gold bullion auction since it invited bids on April 22.
Two out of the three previous auctions were called off as they did not have enough bidders registering to participate in.
During the bidding session conducted on April 23, only SJC and ACB succeeded in the bid and only 3,400 out of a total of 16,000 taels of SJC gold bars changed hands.
The domestic SJC gold price continued to fluctuate slightly on May 3, climbing to over VND85,2 million per tael.
