Singapore PM Lee officially opens Mapletree Business Centre
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officiated at the opening of the Mapletree Business Centre in Ho Chi Minh City today (Mar. 22), the second day of his official state visit to Vietnam.
The newly constructed centre is a 17-storey office complex operated by Mapletree Investments, the property arm of Temasek Holdings, which is owned by the Government of Singapore.
Singapore is the third-largest foreign investor in Vietnam, with investments of US$37.9 billion and the top foreign investor in Ho Chi Minh City, with investments of US$10.2 billion, largely in the real estate segment.
Afterwards, Mr Lee visited SC Vivo Supermarket where he talked with staff, took photos with shop assistants and customers and tasted some fruit.
Mr Lee started his visit in HCM City, and will leave later in the day for Hanoi, where he will call on Communist Party of Vietnam general secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang.
He will also meet Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and lay wreaths at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Monument of National Heroes and Martyrs tomorrow (Mar. 23) before concluding his visit on Friday (Mar. 24).
