The discussion was jointly held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Alibaba Group, and OSB Investment and Technology Joint Stock Company.

During his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the VCCI Doan Duy Khuong emphasised that the EVFTA will present a wealth of opportunities and provide fresh impetus to Vietnam's economic development and export businesses.

Immediately after the EVFTA comes into force, the EU has pledged to abolish 85.6 per cent of Vietnam’s tariff lines, equivalent to 70.3 per cent of the country’s current exports to the bloc.

Along with talks regarding the trade deal, participants discussed the trend of shifting from traditional business to digital platforms, which has become increasingly popular and is widely considered to be a useful solution to help businesses expand into new export markets.

The seminar provided an array of useful information regarding the EVFTA for firms in attendance, knowledge about digital transformation trends, as well as the importance of applying e-commerce for international importers when seeking supply sources.

Participants also had the chance to put forth solutions that could help the country’s various export businesses adapt to changes occurring in international trade, whilst also sharing tactics on how to advertise effectively on the global e-commerce website Alibaba.com, and e-commerce’s role in the impending EVFTA.

During the workshop, Mr. Bernard Dewamme from Belgium-based Mentally Fit Institute shared useful information and solutions aimed at helping domestic exporters enhance their competitiveness within the international economic integration process.

Judy Ke, Training Specialist and International Trade Consultant, provided enterprises with analysis and evaluation on trends taking place in digital transformation, which have had huge effects on global import and export activities.
