SelectUSA 2026 event strengthens Vietnam-US business links
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in the US, in coordination with the US Department of Commerce and SelectUSA, recently hosted the “Connect with Vietnam/SelectUSA 2026” event in Washington, drawing nearly 140 delegates from government agencies, investment promotion organisations and businesses from both countries.
In his speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung described SelectUSA as an important gateway for international investors seeking access to the US business environment while strengthening connections between companies from the two countries as the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership continues to expand.
The Vietnamese business delegation attending this year’s SelectUSA included companies operating in manufacturing, trade, logistics and technology, with strong interest in expanding investment, establishing a presence in the United States and integrating more deeply into global value chains.
The event drew strong interest from US businesses, business associations and state-level investment promotion agencies. Even as Washington was hosting multiple similar investment promotion events at the same time involving other countries and US states, the strong turnout of American delegates highlighted growing interest from the US business community in Vietnam.
Several state investment and economic promotion agencies also reached out to organisers shortly before the event to join networking activities. Discussions during the post-event networking session were active and extended beyond the scheduled time, featuring in-depth exchanges between businesses and potential partners.
Initial feedback from delegates showed the event was well received for its quality, substance and practical value, with experienced speakers providing detailed insights tailored to the interests of Vietnamese businesses.
The “Connect with Vietnam/SelectUSA 2026” event further reaffirmed the Vietnamese Embassy’s role in promoting bilateral economic and investment cooperation while supporting Vietnamese businesses expanding into international markets.
According to Tuyen Do, Chief Executive Officer of TVD Capital Partners, the event served as an ideal platform for Vietnamese businesses seeking to scale up operations. It provided opportunities for companies to build connections, establish trust and feel reassured when working with consulting firms and exploring potential investment opportunities.
Speaking to the media, Mai Phan Zymaris, Head of the Vietnam Team at law firm Ice Miller, stated that Vietnamese businesses, despite having financial resources and extensive business experience in Vietnam, still need to pay close attention when entering a market like the United States.
Vietnamese businesses need to choose suitable business strategies when entering the US market, she said. Selecting the right local partners is another key consideration. Vietnamese companies are also highly interested in securing funding in the United States. However, each organisation has different requirements for businesses seeking access to such funding, she added.
