VOV.VN - The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Doosan Group unveiled on June 25 that it would seek expand its eco-friendly energy business in the Vietnamese market as part of its future strategy aimed at Vietnam's potential clean energy market.
This comes as Doosan Enerbility Company inked an agreement with three companies operating thermal power plants in the country as it seeks to promote a project on eco-friendly fuel conversion.
Furthermore, Doosan Enerbility and Nghi Son 2 Power Limited Liability Company also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) relating to co-operation in the energy field in order to research and apply carbon reduction solutions in electricity production.
The MoU therefore seeks to further reduce coal consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution.
The Vietnamese Government has been accelerating the transition to eco-friendly fuels with a plan to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Until 2020, coal accounts for roughly 30% of power plant capacity in the country. This is the field that is widely considered to have the greatest potential in the transition to clean energy in the future.
