After signing the free trade agreement, in a move widely seen as a furtherance of their deepening economic ties, the RoK and Vietnam began implementing it effective last December.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) established the – Korea Business Plaza – centre in Hanoi, to help small companies better understand Vietnam business laws and practices when they start operating in the country.

In a statement, Kim Jae-hong, KOTRA's president, said the centre aims to "effectively support our companies and maximize the effect of the Korea-Vietnam FTA."

Vietnam Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said in a congratulatory remark that the free trade deal would help companies of both countries boost their economic cooperation.

This is the first such centre set up by the RoK in Vietnam, but the creation of such centres by the East Asian nation has been standard operating practice in other countries.
