RoK, Can Tho look to stronger cooperation in diverse fields

VOV.VN - The Republic of Korea (RoK) Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Do Hyon had a working session on July 9 with leaders of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, during which the diplomat applauded the fruitful relations between Vietnam and the RoK.

Both sides agreed that the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and the Republic of Korea will make greater efforts to augment cooperation in infrastructure construction, trade, tourism, and people-to-people diplomacy.

The Korea-Vietnam Incubator Park (KVIP) and the Can Tho-RoK Centre have already set up in Can Tho city which has become an attractive destination for enterprises and tourists from both nations, he said.

The Korean diplomat asked Can Tho to adopt policies and provide infrastructure for continued bilateral cooperation, and pledged that he will expedite the launch of charter flights from the RoK to Can Tho.

Can Tho boasts huge potential for tourism development, and the city should improve its accommodation system so as to make holidaymakers stay longer, he said.

Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Thanh Thong pledged to provide the best possible support in terms of policies, administrative procedures, and land for RoK investors, particularly in infrastructure construction, high-tech machines, and logistics.

Can Tho is home to 10 RoK projects with a combined capital of US$250 million with the KVIP being the most noteworthy, Thong noted.

In the tourism sector, Can Tho has carried out a series of programmes aiming to attract more investors in infrastructure development, boost personnel training, promote tourist sites, and diversify tourism products, he said.

Thong told his guest that apart from an 18-hole golf course, set to come into operation in the near future, the city sets a target of building another 17-hole course, adding that RoK investors in the project will be able to enjoy incentives. He also extolled the great strides in people-to-people diplomacy through Korean language and culture teaching classes.
