Project to support women-owned firms to promote exports to Europe launched
VOV.VN - A ceremony was held in Hanoi on November 25 to kick-start a project aimed at promoting exports to the European market through an e-commerce platform for women-owned enterprises in Vietnam.
The event was co-hosted by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) and the SheTrades Program under the International Trade Centre and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Vietnam.
At the launching ceremony, Vu Ba Phu, director of Vietrade, revealed that the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, working through the Embassy of the Netherlands in Vietnam, has recently helped enhance capacity building for both small and medium enterprises, especially those in the field of e-commerce.
The project is an initiative which seeks to continue the ongoing support in Vietnam, aiming to support women in their start-up firms whilst promoting sustainable business development towards the millennium goals and gender equality.
Furthermore, the project also contributes to establishing a long-term cooperative relationship between both Vietnamese and Dutch enterprises.
The project has so far attracted the engagement of nearly 100 women-owned enterprises operating in various industries such as garment and textiles, food, agriculture, information technology, and services.
At the event, experts pointed out some of the challenges and opportunities which exist for women entrepreneurs in digital commerce and provided businesses with information on the benefits of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in terms of tariff reduction and export potential.
