Positive outlook ahead for fruit exports in to Chinese market
VOV.VN - Following a recent sharp increase in terms of the export price of durians to China, there are bright prospects ahead for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports to the Chinese market this year, according to industry insiders.
Market surveyors have pointed out that since Vietnam exported the first official batch of durians to China in mid-September, 2022, the export price of durians has skyrocketed.
In particular, durian export turnover to the northern neighbour in October 2022 reached nearly US$50 million, witnessing an unprecedented rise of more than 4,000% year on year.
Many traders have attributed this escalation to China’s rising demand in comparison to previous years.
Furthermore, the number of official shipments to the demanding market has edged up recently, while export shipments via road route has become smoother due to China easing its Zero-COVID policy.
Dang Phuc Nguyen, general secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said there are promising signs for fruit and vegetable exports in the Chinese market, particularly as several official export protocols for agricultural products have been signed.
Vietnam is anticipated rake in US$1 billion from durian exports to China this year as the export price of Vietnamese durian is at a record high, Nguyen added.
