PM Chinh calls for boldly deploying experiments in innovative fields

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has underlined the need to conduct researches and boldly deploy experiments in the innovative fields at the National Innovation Center (NIC) as part of efforts to create breakthroughs and new momentum for the national economy.

PM Chinh made the statement on the morning of October 28 at the inauguration ceremony of a new establishment of the National Innovation Centre (NIC) at Hanoi-based Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park (NIC Hoa Lac).

The Government leader used the occasion to highlight the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s efforts in establishing the NIC and fully connecting the stakeholders of the country’s innovation ecosystem through the Vietnam Innovation International Exhibition 2023.

He underscored the importance of the NIC in developing the startup ecosystem, as well as providing synchronous infrastructure to further enhance Vietnam's innovation ecosystem.

In order to maximise investment efficiency for the NIC, PM Chinh requested that relevant ministries and businesses work to seize opportunities in a bid to co-operate with international partners to fine-tune institutions and policies for innovation activities in the country, whilst promptly meeting the demand for development by innovative businesses and creative startups.

The PM went on to stress the need to map out strategies and action plans which will develop scientific and technological industries with high-added value, such as semiconductor and green hydrogen technology.

He also emphasized the importance of improving infrastructure and training high-quality human resources whilst enhancing the co-operation of stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, including businesses, large corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises and creative startups; research institutes and universities, innovation centers, and incubators.

The cabinet leader proposed promoting international co-operation in the field of innovation and science and technology while requesting that embassies, international organisations, and leaders of major technology corporations accelerate investment activities, ramp up co-operation, and strive to support businesses in the local innovation ecosystem.

Earlier PM Chinh and representatives of relevant ministries attended the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition 2023, which is getting underway from October 28 to November 1.

The expo provide an ideal venue for businesses to share leading innovative ideas and introduce their products across 200 international booths, whilst also strengthening connectivity, exploring innovation capacity, and opening up potential co-operation opportunities in the time ahead.
