PC market looks set for solid growth

(VOV) - Vietnam sold 2.13 million computers last year and was the only market in Asia to experience growth of at least 2%, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC)’s Quarterly PC Tracker.

IDC attributed the growth to highly effective advertising and promotional campaigns along with the offering of huge discounts.

Phan Thi Hoang Yen, a market analyst at IDC said the outlook for the PC market in 2015 is positive as more PCs are expected to be sold to game shops, helping stabilise the PC market this year.

According to IDC, the overall positive forecast on Vietnam’s economy was another reason to expect good things for the PC market this year.

Daniel Pang, an expert from IDC, said there will be more opportunities for retail sales with rapid growth of new shops and shopping centres and in the banking sector due to increasing mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals.
