November CPI rise fuels 11-month core inflation to 4.27%
VOV.VN - The consumer price index (CPI) in November rose by 0.25% compared to the previous month and 3.46% compared to December last year, according to the latest report released on November 29 by the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Eight out of the 11 main groups of consumer goods and services witnessed price hikes from the previous month, including drugs and medical services, up 2.9%; education products, up 0.38%; other goods and services, up 0.32%; and garments and footwear, up 0.2%.
Beverage and tobacco increased by 0.19%, mainly due to an increase in the exchange rate of the US dollar. Catering services inched up by 0.1%; while the culture, entertainment, and tourism group saw a rise of 0.09%.
Elsewhere, the housing and construction materials group increased by 0.05% due to gas prices rising by 0.89%.
Meanwhile, transportation services and food dropped by 0.01% and 0.32% respectively. Only the group of equipment and household appliances remained unchanged.
GSO experts attributed the rise in November CPI to the increase in medical service prices and tuition fees, as well as escalating rice prices in the domestic market in line with export rice prices.
Overall, the 11-month CPI increased by 3.45% against the same period from last year.
The GSO also announced that core inflation increased by 0.16% in November from the previous month and by 4.27% in 11 months.
