Newly-established firms record sharp rise in June

VOV.VN - A sharp rise was recorded in the number of newly-established firms and those returning to the market in June 2023, according to the Business Registration Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

June saw 13,904 new enterprises set up, marking a rise of 4.8% year on year, whilst 7,098 businesses resumed operation, up 215%.

The agency reported that during the January to June period the combined number of newly-established firms and enterprises returning to the market stood at more than 113,000, the highest figure recorded so far. On average, 19,000 new businesses resumed operation each month.

Meanwhile, June alone saw 12,333 enterprises suspend operation, up 3.1% year on year, bringing to 100,000 businesses that have left the market in the six-month period.

Throughout the January - June period, registered capital of new firms declined by 19.8% year on year to VND707 trillion, which is still lower than the average recorded between 2018 and 2022.

The average registered capital of a single enterprise was VND9.3 billion, the lowest level since 2017.

Despite positive signals, the Business Registration Agency said there remain difficulties and challenges businesses are facing in the coming months, especially in the real estate industry.
