New terminal underway at Cat Bi Int’l Airport
(VOV) - Work has started on construction of a new main passenger terminal building and apron at the Cat Bi international airport in Hai Phong city.
The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) is overseeing construction of the VND1,500 billion project, which is expected to be completed and placed into operation by the fourth quarter of 2016.
The two-storey terminal has a design capacity of 4 million passengers per year, capable of handling 1,000 passengers per hour at peak capacity. It has also been designed with a modern flair reminiscent of the buffalo festival staged annually in Do Son, Hai Phong city.
According to the municipal People’s Committee, the new terminal plays a pivotal role in the city and the Northern delta region’s socio-economic development strategy, expanding links between Hai Phong and other localities nationwide.
It will also be a key factor to future development of the tourism sector and efforts to attract increased levels of investment.
