New free trade zone in Da Nang to pioneer reform-driven growth
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed a decision to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, which will be connected to Lien Chieu Port, thereby opening up new development opportunities for the city, the Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones Authority (DSEZA) announced on June 16.

Spanning 1,881 hectares, the zone will include functional areas for production, logistics, trade and services, the digital technology industry, and innovation.
The Da Nang Free Trade Zone is expected to serve as an “institutional laboratory” for piloting new policies in investment, taxation, customs, science and technology, finance, human resources, and digital transformation. This is aimed at creating fresh growth momentum for both the Central Highlands and the country as a whole.
The zone will be developed with modern, synchronized infrastructure across manufacturing, logistics, trade, technology, and high-end services. It is envisioned as a key growth driver for the central region and a new strategic economic hub in the national development strategy.
In the long term, the zone is set to become a vital link in regional and global supply chains, a major production center, and an international freight transit hub. It will connect seamlessly with Lien Chieu Port, Da Nang International Airport, and the East–West Economic Corridor, significantly boosting Da Nang’s economic restructuring following its merger with central Quang Nam province.
The decision also highlights the zone’s synergy with the planned Da Nang International Financial Center, aiming to create a smart, modern, and highly competitive economic ecosystem that enhances Vietnam’s international profile.
DSEZA leaders described the move as a historic breakthrough, marking the first time Vietnam has approved a free trade zone built on special institutions, advanced infrastructure, and innovative policy frameworks consistent with global standards.
