Nestlé Vietnam receives a Sustainable Business title

Swiss-backed food and beverage company Nestlé Vietnam has recently received the title of Sustainable Business 2017 at an annual ranking programme in Hanoi.

The accolade attests to Nestlé Vietnam's committment to building a sustainable environment for the community
The event was hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in tandem with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, and State Securities Commission.

The programme leverages Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) as a metric to gauge enterprise value in diverse economic, environmental, and social fields.

Nestlé Tri An plant, which turns out NESCAFÉ products, has recorded prominent achievements in the environmental field. Nestlé Tri An was dubbed as one of the exemplary enterprises building a sustainable production environment.

This is one of the handful enterprises in Vietnam disposing no waste to the environment. With prominent initiatives, such as using coffee peel as fuel, ash as fertiliser or wastewater from production for irrigation, the plant saves a significant amount of energy and water resources during production.

These initiatives help save 60% of used energy and reuse 28 per cent of wastewater after being treated. Nestlé Tri An is one of the four factories of Nestlé Group in Vietnam that meet the highest standards of environmental protection.

NESCAFÉ’s farming techniques help farmers reduce water usage by 40%, pesticide and fertiliser usage by 20, while boosting land use efficiency via combined planting with other crops.
