Lobster exports to China enjoy three-digit growth
VOV.VN - The opening six months of the year witnessed Vietnamese lobster exports to China surge 174% year on year to US$122 million in value, making China the largest consumer of the Vietnamese product, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Vietnam also exported lobsters to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and the United States, but its recorded the highest export growth in the Chinese market, reported VASEP.
The export value of live crabs to the Chinese market increased by 12 times, reaching US$49 million. Clam and oyster exports also soared, enjoying annualincreases of 280% and 282%, respectively.
However, the export of Vietnamese white-legged shrimp to the market witnessed a decline of 10%, bringing back just US$117 million. Elsewhere, black tiger shrimp and other marine fish exports also endureda downswing.
Though China is also the largest import market of Vietnamese Tra fish (pangasius), accounting for 35% of Vietnamese seafood exports to this market, its import value of the Vietnamese fish declined 7.4% to more than US$243 million.
Overall, six-month Vietnamese seafood exports to China increased by 8.4% year on year to US$690 million.
It is predicted that demand from this market for salmon and lobster is set to continue rising as Chinese consumers increasingly prefer high-quality, value-added seafood products.
