Leading Thai products on display at Hanoi exhibition

VOV.VN - Sixty-nine eading firms from Thailand are currently showcasing their products and services to Vietnamese customers at the Top Thai Brands 2021 exhibition, which opened on April 1 at the Hanoi International Exhibition Center (I.C.E).

On display at 90 online and 31 offline booths are various quality Thai products, including food and beverages, household items, health and beauty products, and electronic appliances, among others.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Morakot Janemathukorn, Chargé D'affaires of the Thai Embassy in Vietnam, stressed that the fair aims to boost economic co-operation between the two countries.

The function is taking place to mark 45 years of Thailand-Vietnam diplomacy and will further strengthen the mutual partnership amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Morakot Janemathukorn.

In response, Le Hoang Oanh, director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Asia-Africa Market Department, reviewed trade ties between the two counties, noting Thailand now represents the largest Vietnamese trade partner in ASEAN, while Vietnam was Thailand's third largest trading partner in the bloc last year.

Total trade turnover between the two countries reached an annual average growth rate of 7.3% between 2015 and 2020, hitting US$16 billion last year, and accounting for 30% of the total value of Vietnamese trade with ASEAN countries.

The four-day function is being co-hosted by the Department of International Trade Promotion under the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and the Office of Commercial Affairs under the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi.
