Largest export markets for Vietnamese goods over eight-month period revealed

VOV.VN - The United States, China, the EU, ASEAN, the Republic of Korea (RoK), and Japan remained Vietnam’s largest export markets during the eight-month period with a combined revenue of US$207.7 billion, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Statistics indicate that the country racked up trade surpluses of US$68.1 billion, US$23.6 billion, and US$1.7 billion with the US, the EU, and Japan from January to August, representing respective rises of 28.6%, 22%, and 30.5% against the same period last year.

In contrast, it slipped into trade deficits of US$54.4 billion, US$20 billion, and US$5.8 billion with China, the RoK, and ASEAN, marking respective increases of 69.6%, 12.1%, and 14.8% year on year, respectively. 

With regard to export turnover, the US emerged as the largest buyer of Vietnamese goods with turnover reaching US$77.9 billion, followed by China US$37.9 billion, the EU US$34.4 billion, ASEAN US$24.5 billion, the RoK US$16.9 billion, and Japan US$16.1 billion.

Vietnam raked in US$207.7 billion from exports to these six markets, accounting for 78% of the country’s total export value throughout the reviewed period.

Meanwhile, Vietnam spent US$194.5 billion on importing goods from the six largest markets, making up 79% of total import turnover.

China became the largest supplier of goods to the country with turnover reaching US$92.3 billion, followed by the RoK US$36.9 billion, ASEAN US$30.3 billion, Japan US$14.4 billion, and the EU US$10.8 billion.
