Key solutions for achieving double-digit GDP growth

VOV.VN - Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung has emphasized that for Vietnam secure double-digit GDP growth, the non-state economic sector must expand by at least 11% annually.

Speaking at a business meeting on February 10 in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlighted a remarkable shift in 2025 as the government has assigned specific growth targets to all localities, ministries, and state-owned enterprises. He underscored that without bold and transformative measures, the country cannot achieve its centennial development goals of becoming a modern industrialized nation with high income by 2045.

With 2025 marking the final year of the 2021-2025 socio-economic development plan, Minister Dung outlined key strategies to accelerate growth:

- Enhancing the role of private enterprises by recognizing the private sector as a key driver of economic growth, productivity, and competitiveness.

- Improving the business environment through institutional reforms, streamlined regulations, and the elimination of administrative hurdles. A shift from pre-approval to post-monitoring will ensure a more dynamic economic landscape. Immediate focus will be placed on resolving bottlenecks in real estate, infrastructure, and renewable energy projects, particularly in major cities like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang.

 - Mobilizing all available resources to fuel economic expansion. Investments in strategic infrastructure such as expressways, high-speed rail, and energy projects will be accelerated. The government is also prioritizing the development of new economic hubs around key locations like Long Thanh and Chu Lai airports, financial centers, and free trade zones.

- Driving innovation and digital transformation by supporting businesses in research and development, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor technologies. The innovation ecosystem will be strengthened through increased workforce training and incentives for enterprises investing in high-tech industries.

- Developing national-scale enterprises to enhance Vietnam’s role in global supply chains. Stronger linkages between domestic and foreign-invested firms will be encouraged, while financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will help them integrate into international markets.

- Expanding markets and boosting consumption by promoting Vietnamese-made products and leveraging the country’s 17 free trade agreements (FTAs) to diversify export markets. Strengthening partnerships with newly upgraded strategic allies will also be a priority.

The government remains committed to carrying out these measures to foster a dynamic business environment, drive economic transformation, and lay the groundwork for sustainable double-digit growth beyond 2025.
