Japanese consumers to taste Vietnamese specialty coffee
VOV.VN - The first batch of Vietnamese specialty coffee is set to be exported to the Japanese market on July 5 by Dak Lak 2-9 Import-Export Company Limited (Simexco Daklak).
Le Duc Huy, general director of Simexco Daklak, emphasised that customers who purchase specialty coffee require high-quality standards for the entire shipment.
Japanese consumers are very strict about the quality, and after years of having sent samples for testing, we have finally got their nod,” said the executive.
According to Simexco Daklak, the Japanese partner previously bought commercial green coffee products, including Arabica and Robusta, but decided to place orders on specialty coffee thanks to its high quality and increasing demand in the Japanese market.
In fact, the value of specialty coffee often stands far higher than commercial coffee, with some specialty coffee products being traded at up to VND310,000 and VND430,000 per kilo.
The specialty coffee in this shipment is grown in farms at over 800m above sea level. This growing area has a large difference in temperature between day and night, creating favourable conditions for coffee plants to grow and generate an outstanding quality.
After being harvested manually, the coffee beans are washed twice with water and fermented thanks to the natural processing method Anaerobic Natural, that helps create unique and distinctive flavors of coffee.
Finally, the coffee will undergo a slow drying process to remove moisture and achieve the required stability.
