In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam briefed participants on mutual relations, while underlining the importance of Vietnamese businesses engaging in the supply chains of Japanese businesses.
In response, Trieu The Hung, chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee, emphasised that due to its location in the northern key economic triangle region of Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh, Hai Duong has great potential for development in various fields such as industry, agriculture, commerce, service, and tourism.
The locality aims to become a major industrial, commercial, and service hub in the north, he said, adding that local authorities have recently pledged to create the optimal conditions possible for Japanese investors operating in the province.
Meanwhile, Yasuhiro Nojima, general secretary of the Japan-Vietnam Association, expressed his surprise at the miraculous development of Hai Duong in recent times, noting that the locality continues to boast great potential for future development.
Shigetoshi Aoyama, vice chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) also affirmed that there remains ample room to boost the development of new-generation and high-value-added industries in Hai Duong.
Hai Duong has so far attracted 490 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects that have a total registered capital exceeding US$9 billion from 26 countries and territories around the world.
Japan has injected roughly US$1.5 billion in 60 projects in the locality, accounting for 16.6% of total investment capital and ranking second in terms of the number of projects.
