Investigation into trade remedy tax evasion with wooden cabinets from Vietnam extended

VOV.VN - The United States continues to extend the investigation period to review product scope and trade remedy tax evasion on wooden cabinets imported from Vietnam.

The Trade Defence Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that it has received information that the US Department of Commerce (DOC) continues to extend the time to issue the final conclusion on the investigation and review of product scope.

The time to issue preliminary and final conclusions on the investigation of trade remedy tax evasion (applicable to China) on wooden cabinets imported from Vietnam.

​According to a notice given by the US Department of Commerce, the final conclusion of the product scope review investigation is expected to be issued on April 5.

Regarding the tax evasion investigation, the US Department of Commerce has also continued to extend the time for issuing preliminary and final conclusions of the case to April 19 and July 18.

The case of product scope investigation and trade remedy tax evasion was initiated by the US Department of Commerce in May and June, 2022, respectively.

In September, 2023, the US Department of Commerce issued a notice adjusting the preliminary conclusion of March, 2023, thereby listing three cases of wooden cabinets imported from Vietnam with parts made in China falling within the scope of the original tax order with China.

Previously, according to the Trade Defence Agency, from April, 2020, until now, the US has imposed anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on wooden cabinets originating from China with anti-dumping tax rates ranging from 4.37% to 262.18%, as well as anti-subsidy tax rates ranging from 13.33% to 293.45%.
