Industry associations urged to assess Middle East conflict impact on trade
VOV.VN - The Import-Export Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade has asked industry associations to urgently review and assess the impact of the Middle East conflict on export-import activities, logistics and raw material supplies.
In Document No. 234 dated March 3, 2026, the department noted that developments in the Middle East could affect transport activities and global supply chains.
According to the document, several countries have closed their airspace while some shipping companies have suspended operations or adjusted transport routes. These developments may affect logistics activities, increase transport costs and disrupt international trade schedules.
To ensure the export growth target for 2026 under Government Resolution No. 01P issued on January 8, 2026, the department asked industry associations to assess the potential impact on their sectors.
Associations were requested to review how the Middle East conflict could affect export-import activities in each sector, identify potential difficulties and propose solutions to sustain export growth. They were also asked to consider alternative sources of raw materials where necessary.
Industry associations will have to send their assessments to the Import–Export Department before March 6, 2026, allowing the department to compile the information and consider appropriate measures to support businesses and export sectors.
The department said it will continue working with associations and enterprises to closely monitor market developments and respond to fluctuations in international trade amid growing geopolitical uncertainties.
