The summit comes as Vietnam’s economy accelerates technology adoption while promoting green growth, requiring the industry and trade sector to continue innovating, modernizing value chains, and enhancing competitiveness amid deeper international integration.

Opening the summit, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan highlighted that in recent years, the ministry has advanced digital transformation across three pillars: digital government, industry-specific digital economy, and data infrastructure.

Notable achievements include the development of nearly 40 sectoral databases, expansion of end-to-end online public services, and the application of data for energy management, smart manufacturing, and strengthened e-commerce control.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan emphasized that in 2025, the sector must pursue more comprehensive and intensive innovation to seize opportunities from dual transformation-digitalization and green transition. The summit provides a crucial platform for management agencies, local authorities, technology companies, and enterprises in production, energy, logistics, and e-commerce to assess digital transformation progress and propose solutions for the next phase development.

He urged participants to focus on key areas of discussion, first by identifying emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data, and cloud computing, and exploring their applications in digital government, smart manufacturing, smart energy, and e-commerce.

Second, participants examined solutions to develop a sustainable, safe, and green e-commerce market, enhance cross-border e-commerce management, enhance regional linkages, and support the digital consumption of local products.

Third, they explored models and strategies for advancing the digital economy at the local level, with particular attention to small enterprises and household businesses, which play a critical role in market digitalization.

During the plenary session, presentations outlined a comprehensive view of the sector’s transformation journey, from the current state of digital adoption to the vision for 2030. Discussions included assessing enterprise readiness for transformation, technology applications in local digital economy development, cybersecurity strategies in the era of AI, and green transition initiatives in energy and manufacturing.

Participants agreed that modernizing value chains, increasing transparency, and optimizing operations through data are essential for enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnam’s industry and trade sector.
