Industry and Trade Ministry's administrative reform achievements praised
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has hailed the Ministry of Industry and Trade for its organizational restructuring and administrative reform achievements.

“To develop its industry, Vietnam should reduce its dependence on unsustainable advantages and natural resources like crude oil, coal, and ore. We should shift to a creative industry, in which technology will be the driving force and foundation for competition," he said.
The government leader called on the sector to continue to proactively integrate into the global economy, capitalize on free trade agreements, and achieve export goals for 2017.
He also asked for measures to protect domestic goods in accordance with international law and build national brands of high-competitive products.
Regarding tasks for the sector in the year, PM Phuc told the MoIT to thoroughly deal with the big loss-making projects under its remit, reiterating that money from the State budget must not be wasted further on these projects.
It is imperative to devise policies for developing some important industries such as automobile, electronics and mechanics while stepping up trade promotion. The ministry should also encourage all economic sectors, including State-owned enterprises, FDI firms, equitised companies, and cooperatives, to engage in developing industry and trade, he added.
The Government leader also instructed developing support industries and industries serving agriculture, especially hi-tech agriculture. He suggested a campaign should be launched to promote industries that serve hi-tech agriculture so as to turn hi-tech agriculture into a strength of Vietnam.
In his speech at the conference, Industry and Trade Minister Tran Anh Tuan also said his ministry has set four targets to help the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) expand by 6.7% in 2017.
The ministry will speed up the restructuring of the industry towards enhancing the development of the processing and manufacturing sectors while reducing the outwork and assembly of made-in-Vietnam industrial products, he said.
Apart from removing a number of complicated administrative procedures, the focus will also be on improving the business environment to create the optimal conditions for enterprises to develop, Tuan said
The ministry will take full advantage of free trade agreements (FTA) to actively support domestic enterprises to participate in the global supply chains.
